The awards, long recognised for their reputation for launching international careers, are hosted by ABC Classic FM and the Music & Opera Singers Trust (MOST).
The Awards have provided aspiring young musicians the opportunity to perform with Australia’s major orchestras for more than 70 years. Since their inception they have been a launchpad onto the international stage for acclaimed international musicians such as Roger Woodward, Simon Tedeschi, Claire Edwards, Amy Dickson and Tamara-Anna Cislowska.
The 2018 awards offer significant prize value*, including cash awards, performance opportunities and the chance to become ABC Classic FM’s inaugural Artist in Residence.
Entrants are invited to upload video entries to youngperformersawards.org before March 6th, 2018, when a judging panel, led by Dene Olding AM, will select 12 semi-finalists.

Get Songwriting competition
If you are a Year 10-12 high school student in Australia, it is time to let the music flow and get songwriting! Enter a song or two for your chance to win a place at the 2019 week-long USQ Artsworx McGregor Music Retreat.
Valued at over $1400, this prize includes the opportunity to attend songwriting workshops, jam sessions, elective workshops, performances and more. Your accommodation at the Retreat is part of the prize, and it will be fully supervised accommodation and meals for the week on-campus at USQ Toowoomba.
In addition to the overall winner there will be three highly commended entrants, one from each year level, who will receive a prominent songwriting text and the opportunity to be mentored by a current USQ music student.

An annual National Songwriting Competition for every Primary and Secondary School, both public and private, in Australia’.
Entries open mid-July and close late October 2018. Winner automatically agrees to perform their winning song at the request of ACMF for a 12 month period from mid-November. Exact dates when these are advised.
Australia’s richest and most prestigious competition for young opera and classical singers’. Suited to senior secondary and tertiary students.
Competition entries opened 23 February and close 26 March 2018. Heats are held in April and May and semi-finals in August. Finals Concert on 8 September 2018.

Music Business Basics
Music SA is absoluteley delighted to present Girls To The Front, a two day music workshop for South Australian girls aged 14-18, interested in a career in music performance and music business.
Over the course of two fun filled days within the April School Holidays and National Youth Week, a group of South Australian female music industry mentors (musicians and industry practitioners) will guide 25 young girls through all facets of the industry including live performance, basic home recording techniques, songwriting, music business and understanding music career pathways.
The entire masterclass will take place in the St Paul's Creative centre, with lunch included on both days.

Autumn Jams School Holiday Music Workshop
Music SA, Club 5082, The City of Prospect and Headspace are very excited to announce Autumn Jams, a 3 day songwriting and performance workshop for 13 - 17 year olds during National Youth Week and the April school holidays, at Club 5082 in the Prospect Town Hall.
Qualified staff of Music SA will mentor your teenager on songwriting, recording and live performance, and finish the program with a live performance for friends and family on Sunday evening at Club 5082.
