HAYLEY BINNEKAMPWhen I was 8 months old I started to travel to different parts of the world with my parents and older 2 sisters. I have lived in England, Oman and Qatar since then and only returned home to Australia last year, when I started at Seymour College in Adelaide. For as long as I can remember I have loved to sing and dance as a way of expressing myself and making new friends from all over the world; I have made the most of every opportunity to do so that has presented itself! With living overseas for most of my life I was able to participate in several different choirs, musicals and plays in British and American International schools as well as local theatre production and dance companies in Qatar (and England during the summer holidays)
Whilst living in Qatar, I was also a student of an international music school, The Qatar Music Academy for 6 years; 2 of these years I was on a full piano scholarship (2013-4 and 2016-7). Since moving back to Australia, I have also joined as many school choirs as I could; I started singing with the Australian Girls’ choir and I have taken part in all of the school’s musical productions. I have also completed SACE dance stage 2 as part of the school curriculum and continued my academic music studies after school. I have been studying ABRSM Piano, Voice and Music Theory for over nine years. This year, I also completed the Trinity Drama Exam (Musical Theatre) grade 6. Playing the lead roles in musicals is my absolute passion and some of my most memorable performances have been in Annie (playing Annie), Beauty and the Beast (playing Belle), Matilda (playing Mrs Wormwood), Into the Woods (playing Cinderella) and Bye Bye Birdie (playing Susie). Most recently I took part in Pelican Productions’ Musical Theatre Camp, playing Satine in Moulin Rouge. But whether it is a lead role or a minor part, I always love to be part of a theatre group. |
